RankJoe is hiring a full-time, remote Link Builder to grow the backlink profiles of our own site and our clients' sites through free and organic link acquisition, not paid placements.
This is a hands-on execution role. You'll spend most of your week researching real link opportunities, submitting to directories that are actually worth submitting to, and running outreach that gets replies, not a mass-blast spam operation.
What you'll do
- Research and submit to niche-relevant, high-quality business and industry directories, skipping low-value or spammy ones that create risk instead of value
- Run free link building tactics beyond directories: broken-link building, resource-page outreach, guest post pitching, and journalist/HARO-style requests
- Vet every link opportunity for real relevance and quality before pursuing it, not just volume
- Keep an organized, up-to-date record of every link built, pitched, and pending across clients
- Write outreach emails that get genuine replies, not templates that get marked as spam
- Report weekly on links acquired, in progress, and the pipeline of new opportunities
What we're looking for
- You can explain, in your own words, what makes a backlink actually valuable versus what makes it spammy or risky
- Strong written English, specifically for outreach emails that need to earn a reply from a real person
- Organized and detail-oriented; you can track dozens of moving link opportunities without losing the thread
- Prior experience with link building or SEO, even freelance or self-taught
Nice to have
- Familiarity with a backlink or SEO tool such as Ahrefs, Moz, or Semrush
- Experience pitching guest posts or doing outreach at scale
- Basic understanding of what a domain rating or spam score means and why it matters
